I watched Sid and Nancy today for about the 6th time with Mum. I love them both. I don't idolise Sid because it isn't clever to have a smack addiction and go around beating people up and shagging everyone but your girlfriend but I think that a lot of people underestimated his intelligence. After I watched the film I watched some interviews with him on YouTube and he was ranting on about the general public and how shit everyone is and how everything is glamorised when in actual fact it's shit.
I've also read two books on him and Nancy. The first was 'And I don't want to live this life' by Deborah Spungen and it really shocked me how disturbed Nancy was growing up. Even before she met Sid she was working as a hooker in New York to feed her addictions and as a child she'd been diagnosed as schizophrenic and tried to kill her mum and a babysitter.
The other one was 'Sid Vicous: no one is innocent' and painted a picture not just of his time with the Pistols but also about the murder trial and his own death. It didn't make him sound like a very nice person if I'm being honest but it also showed Malcolm McLaren and Anne Beverly for what they really were, which was despicable.

When I'm next in town I think I'm gonna buy Rotten by John Lydon because reading Sid Vicious has made me want to educate myself on actual Punk Rock history rather than just sit listening to the stuff.
I have a few nights out to look forward to and it is 11 days until Heather is back ;(
