Thirteen Reasons Why

Was a book that I bought last week and another book that I finished in an evening. Well, an evening and twenty minutes curled up on a leather chair in bru station. I wasn't too impressed if I'm being honest. Hannah's reasons for committing suicide were beyond immature and everybody I know has dealt with worse problems than she had to. The standard of writing was average and the very American idiolect grated after the first couple of pages as well. However, I did like the format of Clay listening to the tapes and commenting on the things that Hannah said, and the idea of the thirteen tapes being released after her death was unlike anything I'd ever read before.

My weekend was amazing. On Friday after spending a rather enjoyable half an hour sitting outside with Alice and Beth talking about subliminal messages I got the met to Whitefield with Jordan and met Steven. We lay in bed listening to The Sex Pistols and talking for about 6 hours. I can't remember what we talked about but all we ever talk about is books, travelling and pretentious drugs so the conversation was probably along those lines.

Yesterday me and Luke had a really long and tiring walk about Manchester centre before going to The Printworks to see Dorian Gray. It was absolutely fantastic. The music was chilling, the costumes beautiful and 80% of the scenes very disturbing. The combination of pain and lust and sheer beauty and callousness made for an epic cinematic experience. The eye candy wasn't bad either. It's showing at the theatre next month so fingers and toes crossed I can go.

I then met Alex and Claudia in Starbucks before me and Claudia went for tea: a big box of Chinese. I smiled at the old cleaner because smiling at strangers makes me happy and because he looked as if nobody had smiled at him in a hundred years and because he reminded me of Crooks from Of Mice and Men. Twinnies. He beamed at me and asked how I was and I was really glad that I'd made the effort to smile in the first place. :)

At night Lauren, Alice, Mikey and Claudia came round as a belated birthday celebration pour moi. My presents were so sweet. Claudia bought me an ethnic red and black scarf, Alice Regina Spektor tickets and Mikey bought me a Barbie doll (!!!!) and Slimfast chocolate. We drank cherry Lambrini and listened to Bob Marley and played the 'I have never' game with electric blue Mickey Finns.
We midnight we went on a walk in the tipsy darkness to Alice's house where we put loud music on courtesy of Guitar Hero and I danced on the kitchen table with Mikey and Claudia. We then went upstairs and found Alice's stash and took it all which proved pretty funny.
This was followed by another long walk in the dark. We met a guy called Skin who owns a tattoo studio. He showed us his tattoos. The full sleeves and leg sleeves were impressive but nowhere near as impressive as the big eye tattooed on the top of his bald head. We walked together to the 24 hour shop where he bought us some cigarettes and proceeded to try and set my hair on fire with a lighter and bed Alice.
Our walk led us to the creepy garages but we didn't stay there for an overly long time. We instead went back to my house and by this time we were all rather tired so everyone fell asleep apart from me and Mikey, who stayed up late with me listening to some more Bob Marley and talking.
