I love them. Whether it's William Shakespeare's, Oscar Wilde's, C.S Lewis' or Eminem's, articulate people render me awestruck. Words on a page describing a scene in a story, metaphors in a poem detailing some lost emotion, quick-tongued rhymes in a rap, words used for power in a speech (The "I have a dream" speech still amazes me), words to put the colour back into life or to take it away, words to describe one's inner self, words that prove things, words that confess crimes, words that never get heard and words that should never be heard, words are something I admire, something I obsess over and something I am in love with. Words can be put together in ways that can create magic or ruin lives, they have a bigger impact on life than anything else and everybody has their own words, their own idiolects and sociolects, words unique to their friendship group, city or country. Words define who we are, words help to create who we want to be and words erase who we don't want to be. Reading a book transports me to another world far faster than any spaceship could, analysing a poem fascinates me and listening to Eminem's delicately crafted script makes me feel like I am feeling his pain myself, words are the most powerful thing known to man, not guns.
