really wind me up sometimes. Just seen one called "Don't be a woman that needs a man: be the woman that a man needs". How ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, I feel sorry for girls that want to fall in love and end up stuck with a guy that just wants to play the field because it's obviously going to lead to tears but it works the other way round as well and modern day feminists don't seem to realise that.
In all walks of life, you will find people that want to settle down and live happily ever after with their current spouse and you'll find people that don't. Gender is irrelevant and it really irritates me that people have this stereotype of boys as being serial players. Nice guys who want nice relationships do exist and it's not fair that they're all painted as sex fiends. Even boys that are like that tend not to hurt people as they have the sense to hook up with girls that aren't looking for anything meaningful either.
Aside from how it is fundamentally wrong to make false assumptions about the entire male species, it's the second part of the sentence that really gets me going. Be the woman that a man needs? What kind of attitude is that to have when you're entering into a relationship, no matter what gender you are? If you like someone then you like someone. No, you shouldn't have to be a doormat but you should give yourself to them and not play silly little mind games to ensure that they "need" you more than you need them. People say romance is dead and it's silly little sayings like this that are killing it.
Getting rejected and having your ego dented by the opposite sex is part of life and it is an essential part of teenage life. I will not sit back and have someone tell me that wearing your heart on your sleeve is wrong because it will get ripped out because if you make your love life revolve around being needed then not only will you be on some lifelong power trip but it will also prevent you from ever being really close to anybody.
Stop messing with fate, get to know the person you like and allow them to get to know you and hopefully you will both depend on each other equally.
I blame Beyonce for this shit.
