Inhumane

Completely disgraced is the only way I can describe my feelings when I read the message board about The Rasmus getting attacked on stage at Reading. My faith in humanity has actually curled up and died somewhere because to bother watching a show JUST to attack the artists because you dislike their music is bad enough but to actually create a forum that says that deserved it?

To start with, the guys from The Rasmus have spent over 15 years writing music. They write their own songs and melodies, refusing to take orders from anyone and as a result of this dedicated attitude have gained millions of fans worldwide, from Mexico to Germany. Obviously they are one of the biggest bands in Finland and they recently played at the same venue in Manchester that Bjork and Nirvana have played at. Lauri, most famous for being vocalist in The Rasmus plays piano, guitar and the drums as well as writing in excess of 100 songs in a language that is not his native tongue. He has written the soundtrack to a movie, owns his own record label talent scouting in Finland and is a proud father. He has worked hard for everything he has gained, dropping out of school and losing his family and the love of his life in the process. So for people to turn around and call him a 'talentless one hit wonder' is shocking.

Eero, father of two children (age 1 and 3 when this happened) had to leave stage because he got injured. How can his wife and the mother of his children be expected to sit at home and look after those children not knowing what state her husband will be in when he returns home?

No matter which band it is on the main stage, nobody deserves to be bottled for having the guts to stand up their and perform in front of thousands of people, thus DOING THEIR JOB. I bet if the people hurling the bottles were on stage themselves they would run off crying in about two seconds instead of attempting to carry on performing as The Rasmus did. It's fucking immature and none of these people would DARE say anything to The Rasmus' faces if confronted personally.

One post criticized them for changing their music to a darker tone after 5 albums of pop punk. They said it was obviously not the kind of music that they were comfortable with making and they were selling out their fans in the worst possible way. The truth is that obviously their music and lyrics are going to change in a period of 15 years. Lauri used to write about his dog, his sister and school. He is now nearly 30 and writing about heartbreak. It's natural to change and mature. He obviously writes about the things happening in his life so how is that selling anybody out? I know for a fact that The Rasmus put a lot of effort into socialising with fans, going partying with them after gigs, which is more than can be said for semi-famous indie acts in the UK.

The main reason that these people are saying they 'deserved' to be bottled is that Lauri Ylonen wore feathers in his hair back when In The Shadows was released. AND WHAT?! Jeffree Star has bright pink hair, Britney Spears shaved hers off, Hayley Williams has bright orange hair. No one cares. He isn't a talentless twat just because he was told to wear feathers in his hair for one music video.

On a lighter note, I started reading The Book Thief this morning. It's quite strange. A novel about Nazi Germany narrated by Death.
