Finished reading The Beach and I have really mixed feelings about it. I think it's because I was constantly comparing it to the film. In the film, it was interesting that Richard slept with Francoise and Sal yet in the book he didn't so much as kiss either of them and I felt that the story suffered as a result as there was no tension between Richard and Etienne. However, I did like the fact that the chapters were really short as it kept up the fast, trippy pace and the visions of Mister Duck were made to seem real which made the fact that Richard was going insane more believable than the film did. Last Thursday was Chris' album launch at The Attic in town. I went with Heather and I wasn't buzzing about it because I'd given the album a listen and it wasn't really my thing but live they were so much better and I went home a fan. On Saturday I got a tattoo!! 3 actually. 75 quid. They mean Butterfly, Death and Soul.
On Saturday night I went to an 18th with Craig. There were loads of people from high school there which was weird because I spoke more to some of them in that one night than in 5 years of education.
