Be careful what you wish for

A lot of girls my age have boyfriends who can afford to wine and dine them at expensive restaurants and book fancy hotel rooms for nights of passion and constantly present them with flowers, chocolates and diamond necklaces.

My life with my boyfriend is nothing like this. We spend our time in rubbish pubs, drink cheap wine and have holes in our clothes. We get silly tattoos like tigers and band logos and never wash our hair. Our cinema trips are preceded with an uncomfortable half our on a bench in the rain, trying to roll a joint without being caught instead of caviar and Champagne and instead of waking up in deluxe four-poster beds we end up in last night's clothes, freezing cold on the floow.

However, despite all this, I wouldn't change what we have for the world. When we're older, we'll look back on these days and smile so why wish them away?

Besides, true romance doesn't cost anything. I'd much rather watch the sun set together, be presented with a photo album filled with snapshots of us on holiday and "treat" him to a ready-meal laced with candles and sparkling conversation any day.

I am embarrassingly in love and will have been for 6 months on the first of December :).
