Finally

This won't be my most articulate piece of blog because I'm really not in a writing mood but I have to get my point out before it gets pushed to the realms of "draft blogs" and never looked at again.
I have to say, whilst reading my friend's blog (it's fantastic, read it at : http://aplacetoventmyspleen.blogspot.com/), my heart actually leapt with joy when I saw these two very beautiful points:

"According to Cameron, in Britain "We have allowed the weakening of our collective identity". Fuck the collective identity. The majority of people in this country are arseholes and I don't want to be in anyway associated with them so why is collective identity so important?"

and

"One of the main points of our lives if not THE main point in my eyes is to try and experience as many different things as you can and one of those things is the different cultures celebrated around the world. "

Now, these two (correct) opinions are both things that I have been spouting off about to anyone who will listen for a long time, so with Jake's fantastic start I'll attempt to put my own spin on them (second warning: it won't be eloquent).

The first quote:
Collective identity is NOT important. The majority of people in this country spend their days spending their dole money on weed, fags and Domino's, playing on their Xbox's and having unprotected sex (strangely said people all seem to be pro-life, hence they breed generations that grow up to be exactly the same as themselves). Now, people like this are useful because they give us something to look down on and bitch about (yes, I am a snob, I don't care) and also because they keep Jeremy Kyle in business and he's a very nice bloke. But, and I know that I will offend many a communist out there, I am better than those people in more ways than one and I do not want to be affiliated with the huge underclass of Britain. Come on, our country is so shite we inspired Shameless for Christ's sake. I'm all for the working class ethic of old-skool Britain but as for Britain as it is today, we do not have a collective identity, we live in a country divided by racism, class and homophobia and I do not want to be a part of that morale.

The second:
Is obvious. In my opinion, travel. If you can't travel than at least find out about all the amazing customs, beliefs, festivals, foods and practices available on your doorstep. It's interesting. It's exciting. Why immerse yourself in a fish & chip culture when we have so much beauty from around the world on every corner? Stop hating other cultures guys and actually spend your time bashing the one useless one: our own.
Why waste your time hating your typical Muslim who spends their time praying, going to college and trying to avoid racism? Oh yeah, it's because our people spend time doing more worthwhile things like mugging old ladies and drinking WKD on street corners.
